At Southway Primary School, we believe pupils should be encouraged to develop a high-quality language education. Learning another language raises awareness of the multilingual and multicultural world, and introduces an international dimension to pupils’ learning, which gives them an insight into their own culture and those of others. Learning French provides children with the knowledge of how language works, enabling them to explore similarities and differences between foreign languages and English.

Our children are given the opportunity to develop linguistic competence in practical situations through a range of activities, including songs, rhymes and games, which provide a stimulated and varied approach to language learning and build upon positive achievements.
