Geography

At Southway Primary School, we believe it is vital to develop children’s knowledge and skills in geography at immediate, local and global levels.

We feel it is essential that all children have a sense of belonging and place for themselves and others. Children need to be familiar with a range of physical and human geographical features locally, and within a variety of contrasting areas around the world.

Children will talk confidently about world locations and this will be achieved by enabling children to develop their geographical skills such as reading maps. We will also give children opportunities to explore their geographical enquiry through a range of fieldwork.

We will ensure that children are given the chance to think about their individual impact on the world and the differences that they can make.
