History

The history curriculum at Southway Primary School provides children with a coherent, chronological knowledge of the history of Britain and the wider world, explored through three key concepts: quest for knowledge; power, empire and democracy; and community and family.

We believe in providing the children with a grounding in core disciplinary knowledge, and the ability to approach challenging, historically-valid enquiry questions. We seek to broaden children’s real-life experiences both inside and outside of school with educational visits, visitors, exploration and discovery. Through our curriculum, they will gain an excitement for history, that inspires a curiosity to learn more about the past.
