We have welcomed each other back to Nursery after the summer break and have been busy meeting and greeting new friends to have fun and play with.
Here in our Nursery we have been having lots of fun alongside Supertato and his nemesis the Evil Pea! We have explored, tasted, weighed and printed with a range of fruit and vegetables and even made jelly in order to ‘trap’ that pesky Evil Pea!!!
We have been talking about ourselves and our families and what we are super at!
Following on from this, we will start to explore different professions around us and possible jobs we might be super at in the future. Watch out for firemen, police officers, vets and even astronauts in and around the nursery!
Paws, claws and dinosaurs!
We welcome our new friends to the nursery, along with a mysterious visitor with knobbly knees and turned out toes and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose! Oh help, oh no…it’s a Gruffalo!
During this term we read, recite and recreate some of our favourite animal books including Dear Zoo, Monkey Puzzle and Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see. We will compliment these stories with a variety of non-fiction books and video clips to find out more about the animals around us and across the wider world.
Later in the term, we will take on the role of palaeontologists and uncover the secrets of dinosaurs, naming, describing and comparing different species and creating our own fossils.
Dig it! Grow it! Climb it!
We welcomed new friends to join us in the nursery at a very exciting time of year! We found a range of mysterious seeds and beans and learnt how to plant them outside in our garden. We learnt how to care for them and watched them grow throughout the summer, comparing sizes and observing changes.
We wondered if they would grow as tall as Jack’s beanstalk!?
We then moved on to investigate the various mini beasts living in our environment and even watched our very own caterpillars turn into butterflies before setting them free to enjoy our garden.
All that was left to do was to say our fond farewells to the children going up to school. We had a leaving ceremony where the children were awarded certificates and medals for a very successful time at Nursery.
Our Nursery children have been very busy having fun, playing and exploring, making friends and being active learners! We are looking forward to the new term and to meeting new friends that will be starting with us in September.
